Foam Frenzy

Pinterest has a lot to answer for. My Kid Things Board has 211 pins including this stuff.
You need: Cheap Shaving Foam
PVA Glue
Food Colouring

First up we put a 'cloud' in the sky.

And then added some more 'water' in the form of food colouring to our cloud so we could see what happens to rain clouds.

Then it started to 'rain'. Then we added the yellow colouring so we could talk a bit about colour mixing....

Then we filled a bowl with shaving cream....

And added the whole bottle of glue....

Mix it up till it looks like uncooked meringue.

I dumped it out onto a paper palate while Will decided on what colours he wanted.

More discussion on colour combining followed....

Then Will got down to it....

The cool thing about this is that because the shaving foam is like soap Will didn't get food coloured hands... he did end up smelling like cheap shaving foam though. :-)

It was a lot thicker and gloopy-er than I expected and didn't come off all that well onto the paper. But Will got it sorted and was soon having a foam-a-pa-loser!

We made a few different pictures:
A couple just plain hand painted foam.
A print off of one of the pages (by laying a clean piece of paper on top and pressing it down)
One with Will's name.
And a final one using some paint combs that we have.

If I was to do this activity again I'd get a stash of tools with could use with the foam. Hair comb, potato masher, toy cars with chunky wheels, plastic animals with large foot prints etc.

We put the pages out in the sun to dry and clean up was super easy!

There's always just a tiny bit of temptation to do the thing you know you really shouldn't.
He didn't.
