This week on the web....

Building a culture of risk....
...we live in a culture of fear and risk aversion which if not addressed, is going to have a detrimental effect on our children’s development and their ability to show good judgement, courage, persistence, resiliency and self confidence as adults.

Inside the brain of a struggling reader... make sure you click through to the whole infographic- it's interesting.

Talking about struggling learners... it still blows my mind that some schools in the US only have 15 minutes of actually playing time in a school day.

I feel like I need a nest!!

An interesting article about why dividing people by age to learn doesn't make sense and some ideas about why the alternative will work better. I wonder if this will ever happen in mainstream education?

Teacher Tom's post My Best friends are five year olds is lovely.

Another animation relating to the refugee crisis- it's a good one for gaining a basic understanding of what's happening in the world and the scale of things.

... Merenia went to Erynn's for campfire night.
... We played Cards against Humanity with Layla.

"You've had a good day son"  is the punchline of a joke my dad used to tell about a father, his son, a bear won in a side show at a carnival and a Mini Car... it's a great joke and the one liner punchline has stayed with us for a very long time. This weekly post is about being grateful for the little and big things in our lives and celebrating success the grand and everyday kind.

Recently Les took Robert and the boys to Scitech for the school's annual fund-raiser. They got pizza for dinner and Will caught up with some friends he hasn't seen since leaving school.

Caramelised Fig Upside down cake... bring on summer so I can try this with figs from our tree. :-)

A very brief round-up on why fat is in and Ancel Keys is a dick.

I have a heap of 'Project Life' type cards both paper and digital that I won't use on my regular 365 page projects there are some great ideas here.

I love the quote about play at the start of this post about letting kids do their own thing!

It's been a busy week in Stockley-ville and this is all I got.
