What Will said 00:02 21/06/11

I went to bed very late on Monday- in fact it was actually 2 minutes into Tuesday- I was putting the baby gate on our door as a means to stop or at least delay the extremely early visitations of a certain 3 year old and a voice rang out clear into the night calling me from the next room:
"I want to come in early in the morning Mum!"

Seriously? The kid had been asleep since about 7pm and couldn't have known that it was me putting the gate up- what's with that?

Les At Work

I really need to take a bunch more of these sort of photos in the next wee while- we are coming to the end of an era- and soon the RNZAF will be a part of our lives no more. Weird and crazy.

Fritters

I have a thing for sweet corn fritters at the moment.
Luckily I have a husband who has a thing for me- and makes the yummiest sweet corn fritters with sweet chilli sauce around! Yay!

One of those days

I'm not sure what the story is here but apparently some days gravity just pulls you off your chair and chucks a towel at you- hate that!

Bath Stuff

♥

The next wee while....

I think things are about to turn to custard around here in the next week or so or hit the fan or whatever euphemism you prefer for go to shit! And then there'll be baby stuff and moving stuff and just stuff. So I'm in the process of writing up some 'fluff' posts to keep things ticking along for when I can't be around to keep them ticking along myself- :-) We'll obviously let you know as soon as we can once the small person arrives. But in the meantime I hope you enjoy: "the various moments from the last few months I haven't got around to sharing"

What Will said 1/6/11 and 18/6/11

A couple of weeks back I was at Hockey with K and Les texted me this:

Will: I would like more rice Dad.

Les while serving the rice: Is that enough buddy?

Will: No that's too much I only have a little mouth so can't fit that much in.

This morning while struggling to get the Milk out of the fridge for his breakfast:

"I'm just a bit stressed out."

Tetchy

Everyone in this house is a little tetchy...

The Cat is tetchy because Will makes her life hell so I keep her outside the majority of the time. And I think she knows we're not taking her with us.

Kieran is tetchy because he is hoping to stay on in NZ past the Rugby World Cup games he has tickets for and we are having issues finding somewhere for him to board. He's also tetchy because the in zone High School where we are/were?? hoping to live is SO bad it the mention of it made the WA Dept of Ed gifted adviser choke.

Merenia is tetchy because she's a flippin pre-teen with a teacher who has no concept of what it's like to be a 10 year old and part of a family and because she's a little stressed about moving countries and just how much of her stuff we are getting rid of.

Will is tetchy because I won't let him start packing his stuff for a move that is two months away and he can feel that the vague idea he had of having some control over his life was just an illusion. Also because he knows there's an annoying baby on the horizon. Because we've redoubled our efforts to keep him in his own bed and out of ours- it's not working all that well stubborn head strong little bugger knows that if he cries up a storm we can't really let go on as he shares with Merenia- and she needs her sleep! And he just isn't all that into Kindy at the moment and I keep taking him there everyday because I really need the break from all the acting out that is going on- a mum can only be so sympathetic when she's nearing the end of pregnancy and trying to get ready to move countries!

Les is tetchy because he has a LOT on his mind and no decent semblance of organisation for all those thoughts- plus he's waiting on stuff from his new work and stupid volcanic ash clouds and such are causing delays. He also needs more sleep and is having trouble dealing with the Will tornado. Oh and he's tetchy because I am tetchy.

And I'm tetchy because seriously who the f*ck moves countries with a 6?? week old baby? I mean really why would you embark on going through your whole house with a fine tooth comb to reduce your stuff in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Why would you be looking at selling both your cars, all the kids beds, shelves, the fridge and washing machine when you are trying to settle in and enjoy life with a newborn. I'm also tetchy because is seems that everything in Western Australia either takes forever to do or happens months before it needs to like applications for GaT programmes which have to be done through the GOVERNMENT and require things like IQ TESTS????? Or applications for 4-year old kindy which close on July 29 at our local school which we won't actually know what that is for probably a good month AFTER the closing date?? So Will will do what next year?? I'm also tetchy because this whole going into labour thing is so much more unpredictable than a scheduled C-section- it makes having major abdominal surgery look like an attractive option!! Oh and if one more person says they think this whole new baby/moving countries thing is EXCITING I'll punch them. hard.

And here ends my complaining thank-you for listening.

And don't worry,

it'll be fine

in October.

I think.

From Start to Finish

The cool thing about this is that he did the whole lot from start to finish.Got the bread, plate, butter and knife out, put the bread in the toaster, spread it, put it on the plate and sat himself down to eat. Well done my boy!

Blog Name Change

We've made a decision to change the name of the blog. From 1 September it will be called:

'Getting Down in WA'

Actually that's not at all true- I like my blog just the way it is but I do expect that over the next couple of months as we experience some major changes in our lives there will be some interruptions to our regularly scheduled programming. Obviously we have the arrival of our newest small person looming on the horizon and what will feel like a very short space of time after that we are heading off to the Wild West of Australia to start a new life in Perth.
It's funny because everyone is saying 'OH how exciting!" and other variations on that theme. And while we agree it is a huge opportunity, a great adventure and a whole world of new experiences- we're not quite at the excited stage yet as we stand at the bottom of a huge mountain of 'stuff' to do and as yet the path is not even close to exposed especially as it does depend somewhat on the method and timing of the arrival of the small person.

We will be offloading a bunch of stuff on trade me and on the blog over the next month or so- so keep an eye out and give us a yell if you want something! By the way anyone want an awesome cat? She's too furry to cope with the WA heat and finding a rental that allows pets in Perth is akin to finding a needle in a haystack.

Likewise if we borrowed something off you or you borrowed something of us- now is the time to let us know/give it back. I'm still missing two sets of Outrageous Fortune Discs? Series 3 & 4 anyone???

At this stage we don't have catch up plans but of course do hope to see as many people as possible in the time allowing whilst still respecting our Babymoon tradition of spending those first precious weeks together as a new family of 6 (six- holy cow!!) getting to know our new person and taking it easy on ourselves.

More details as they come to hand... perhaps a guest post or two from Les?

Contraptions

Will has a new favourite 'toy'; his contraptions kit.
The kit consists of some pieces of timber, nails, hammer, screws, screwdriver and some pieces from a meccano type plane/helicopter building kit that we could never put together.
Sometimes we also help him use the drill and it's like heaven- dreamy tool filled heaven for small boys..

Wrestlemania Part 1

And that is just one of the many things that big brothers are good for.
