Really?
No, really?
Lets just leave aside for a moment that it is believed that this is the same Tiger that mauled a man last year.
You have a huge powerful creature who is by his very nature a natural born killer. Who by pure instinct hunts MEAT. And you see no indicator that putting some slow moving meat in a cage with this creature could be a problem? I haven't even been to Zion Wildlife gardens and I can see that glaringly obvious 'indicator' from here in Auckland.
Me, I'm recalling that scene in Madagascar you know the one where the lion sees the zebra as nothing more than a juicy raw steak on legs. I know that's a cartoon but you get my gist. And now the planet which has managed to destroy so much with it's gigantic human stupidity and ego problem is down to 119 incredible, amazing, and gorgeous white tigers because one decided to make a meal of a hunk of meat that walked right through his habitat due to the stupidity of 'Zion's' management policy.
I have huge sympathy for the family of Dabu Mncube- nobody deserves to lose a family member and most certainly not when he just at work for the day. But honestly for the park people to say that there were no indicators it's an insult to Mr Mncube's memory and the intelligence of the public, and a very poor cover-our-arse strategy for Zion in the face of the Labour department.
Edited to say: You can learn more here. The comments make for some interesting reading. Thanks Les for once your Kiwiblog obsession is useful to me. :-)
While I am here can I ask does the tradition still exist that in a funeral motor procession the cars have their lights on and dipped and they travel at a slower more respectful speed? I'm not sure it does. And I wonder if perhaps it, and other slower living traditions in our culture, still existed would people like the woman I was traveling behind the other day, still feel that they had the right to go through TWO red lights and put others lives at risk so they could get to STARBUCKS 8 seconds earlier than me. I'm 100% sure there is no coffee emergency that great- and I know Coffee emergencies!
And finally the CD player in the car is broken so I'm listening to Leighton Smith on Newstalk ZB (sad, I know) and he said today in the most serious of tones "Socialists NEVER sleep!" That made me laugh.
