'Cause he's gone daddy gone... our love is gone away!

Les has left.

The team plus Aneil. L to R Scott, Dave James, Joe, Aneil and Les- you know Les right?

For France that is and he has been missed since the moment that Will crawled into bed on Monday morning and remembered he was away. And now early each morning I get the same request for "Daddy to come home on the plane from France?" which is then punctuated by:
"And he's going to get us PRESENTS for Will and Merenia and Mum and Dad and Kieran and WILL!
And then we talk about what Daddy is doing in France and how it's funny that Daddy can see the moon when we can't, how he's having breakfast when we are going to bed, whether he or Joe scored the top bunk or the "down bunk like Will's" and if we will talk to him on the microphone on the 'puter today.
We also have a bunch of questions like If daddy remembers the Tick tock sun is going down song in France? And if the gliders have a propeller (no) and a tail and a nose and wings and fus-large?

We have heard from him a few times already...
  • They got to hang out in the Koru club before they left.
  • He got a whole seat row to himself on the plane.
  • LAX and LA itself was BIG and sunny.
  • All their baggage made it intact to Heathrow where it was hot and humid.
  • The Rental Van in France is great.
  • There's a Steakhouse across the road from the hotel and a Mall next door.
  • The hotel is 'cosy'.
  • Dole is a nice looking little town.
  • He had a real baguette for breakfast.
  • And blue cheese.
This time around will be a little different in terms of information- I think I've fallen out of the inner circle of love and will be getting other peoples hand me downs like this from RC Soaring Communities;
Hi all, we all made it safely after 48 hours of travel, models are all OK and we have had our first day of practice with no major issues. Hotel room is a bit on the small side but comfy enough. Plenty of shops and eateries close by and only 3 minutes to the WC site and about 25 to the practice field which we shared with the Aussies today. Neat thing about the practice field is a radio aerial very near ot with a local Mirage2000 sqn obviously use as a turn point for low level nav. We were visitied by a few pairs of jets moving fast and making lots of noise. No damage done today and all models were flown at least once to check them out after the trip. More tomorrow, heading out early for some dead air practice, plan to off the field about lunch, do a bit of site seeing and head out again later in the evening when lift is scarce again, it was a bit easy today with big puffy white clouds and about 25 degrees and no real appreciable wind. Catch ya, Les.

I think I'll put it all here on the blog for scrapbooking purposes at a later date but it's not going to be quite the same as Turkey.

As for us here at home it's a bit of a state of chaos at the moment- we got home latish and exhausted waiting for Les to go was kind of tense, Kieran had had a rugby thing and Merenia was at a birthday party for a good part of the day. On Monday Merenia went to Alyssa's while Joz, Brody, Kieran, Will and I got the full talk and tour of Massey High School- with a pushchair and sometimes in the rain. Kieran had a Science Quiz they did well got 4th but he was disappointed because the other W school team got 1st. Yesterday was the standard back and forth mission between netball and rugby practices and home with the added bonus of doing the St Johns pick-up. I stayed up way to late because it just felt good to be on my own and in the warmth of the fire not doing anything. The kitchen needs a sort out and I need to get on with various jobs like hanging the washing. It's Uke and Choir today- I told Will we were going to Brown's Bay and he said "SUSHI! YAY!" and I agree. I'm going to try and get a bit of stuff written up on here before the worlds start and the blog gets taken over it's been an interesting life lately and it gets more so everyday.
