Round-up~March

On our bookshelf this month....

Oh my, heaps of reading going on here; I went to the library and we've picked up a few good scores at op shops and kindy gala etc. I've been reading a bunch of craft type books; 'Thrift to Fantasy', 'Teach yourself: Collage and altered art', 'How Children Learn' by Holt, Creating Keepsakes Mag, 'The Unschoolers Handbook', The Far Side, Calvin and Hobbes, Crochet for Babies and Toddlers, Miniature Scrapbooks, Organising Your Scrapbook Supplies and Knitting for Dummies. I also just brought Tim Holtz' Compendium of Curiosities and have a bunch of books coming from Amazon. YUM! Merenia is working her way through The Series of Unfortunate Events and some other horsey books and has discovered that the Library bus calls a block away from us every second week so is enjoying checking out some books from there too.
Kieran has been reading Anthony Horowitz and Andy Grifiths Bumageddon books. Will has really got into Hairy Mclary of late as well as the Mr McGee Books and the ever present Shirley Hughes and Lucy Cousins Maisy books. Les is reading emails and websites and anything he can get his web browser on with regards to new F3J models and France.

Loving on the box....

Grey's Anatomy- YAY! Modern Family, House, The Good Wife and Lie To me. Kieran and I are watching Survivor Hero's Vs. Villains on You Tube and just scored HUGE on trade me when we got the box set of Series 1-4 of Dr Who for a LOT less than the $300 retail price. I also picked up series one of Greys cheap and will be looking to get the rest as well over time. Of course the Super 14 season is back on so there's some Rugby watching and Merenia has taking a fancy for Let's Get Inventing. Will is big on Blues Clues.

For you...For me?

I got roses from Les. St Paddys day treats for the teachers. Ashlynns Birthday gift.

Germs and bugs and botherations....

Everyone got some randon flu cold thing it went from Will and Me to Merenia, then Kieran and finally took down Les who actually had time off which is an indication of how bad it was. Mine was short lived but it seemed to linger in Les and Kieran.

Today was good today was fun, tomorrow is another one...

L, W and I Went to the Avondale Markets. The kids both went to the Kumeu show. Went shopping in New Lynn and went to Olympic Park. Kieran competed in the Soapbox Derby. Both kids had sleepovers and Merenia went to Glow-in-the-dark golf for Ashlynns Birthday. The mobile Tyre guy came- exciting if you are 2 and an interesting homeschool experience if you are 9..

Yum, yum, yum....

Kieran's French Toast and Baked Potatoes. Les and Merenia made Girl Guide Biscuit fudge. And there was Fudge made by K and Choc Caramel slice made by M at Tony and Petra's place. Not the pie that we made for Pi Day though or the fudge I made for the bake sale- they were total fails!! Sushi from Browns Bay.

'It was on sale'....

Oh my we've really spent some money this month! Books for one and it seems to be open season in Op shops and on Trade me lately and we have had so many good scores! It seems like you are just spending a few dollars here and there and before you know it you wonder how the heck you are going to be able to get groceries! 41 Drink bottles for my Rugby team. Had a big shop at Scrapbook outlet- lots of Sassafras goodness.

Bugger!

Got attacked by a duck. Baby Jake stopped coming. We packed up the pools for the winter.

Hooray!

We finally had our exemption granted and are now legal homeschoolers. Will slept in his big boys bed. Baby Kellan came into the world and we had a fun day with the Dawsons.

Etc...

Les is going to France in July. He didn't trial for the F3J team this time around as he couldn't afford to go. But one of the selected team members has had to pull out so they needed someone else. Various people put the hard word on Les despite his financial situation. And then some money became 'available' and so he decided that he would go. Which is cool for him.

The winter sports season has started in earnest- YUK! 2 x Rugby practices and a Netball practice to take up each week and then of course the games start to take over Saturday's next term as well. Merenia Netball has started out wrong in so many ways and I am grumpy about that. I am managing Kieran's Rugby team- which is a new challenge- but also a positive move for the whole team I hope. I did a referees course and I started a blog for the team which is pretty cool.

Les spent the day at a golf tournament helping with Kieran's Kasuga Fundraiser.

You know who's good idea this was? Katie The Scrapbook Lady. Go check out her list of tasks to do at the end of each month as well.
