After some teasing (she's such an easy target) we did the ceremonial entry to the lounge this morning to start the festivities for Merenia's birthday. Madam has a few million questions this month to confirm that we will have all the standard provisions in place. (Oh she would so wish she was home right now 2 horses and a tiny pony just walked by!!!!) Anyway.... So tradition commands I wait in the lounge with the camera and then the rest of the family come in with the birthday person in the lead.. today was no different!
Merenia preceded to open all her presents but one. She got pretty much all horse stuff. A horse encyclopedia and a horse dictionary. Kieran said "What's next a Horse Thesaurus?"
She completed it all and I think she felt a bit deflated... she stood there looking at all her new stuff and we all sat and thought about "the elephant in the room". She wanted to eat some lollies but got told to wait till after brekkie...nothing is as motivating as lollies so she turned for the kitchen and that's when she saw it....
Which was good cause I wasn't sure how long we would all have to sit there not saying anything!
I think in the end she was pretty happy with it all....
Eight is an age in our family at which you may "take the party or the cash" Merenia has opted for the cash (Yay no party!!) and is paying for herself to have a riding lesson and horse Trek tomorrow. Tonight she has a couple of friends over to watch videos and eat McDonalds and talk till late. They have been selected for their horse passions and between them they make their own little Saddle Club Ashlyn is Lisa, Maddy is Carol and Merenia is Stevie... although she sometimes behaves a lot more like Veronica!The cake is all done so now thanks to the 'magic' of the fast food giants I can sit back and relax!!
