Patterns...

I have a collection of retro images from knitting patterns and apart from the one below they all have people on them... I'm sure that there's a blog worthy reason for them I just don't know what it is... I don't have the readership for a caption contest but it sure would be good- especially as the three people I know to read here fairly regularly have brilliantly dodgy senses of humour. :-) Any ideas?
