I like this quote a lot because I think it's true- I'm not sure that I 100% followed it and the work of becoming 'someone' is so much harder when your life it intertwined with someone elses (or many someone elses). A striking example of this is the way I feel so different in the evenings when Les is away. Or when the kids are out at school and kindy and the baby is asleep. It's not better or worse- just different, just their presence in the house makes a big difference to how I am.
But I am happy and it doesn't come down to the people around me- if (god forbid) some terrible calamity struck them all down, after the storm of grief passed, and the clouds cleared. I'd be ok. I'd be happy again. I am happy now. Very.

Just wanted to be mindful of this....

"And yet there is such a thing as happiness. There is such a place of bliss. When you drop your expectations, lose your selfishness, forget your grievances, give up your worries, abandon the plan, stop your striving, let it out, let it go, let things pass, take a breath, take a break, quiet down, be still, empty your mind, open your heart, and come alive, what else is there to be but happy?"

Imperfect

You're imperfect and you are wired for struggle but you are worthy for love and belonging.
I saw this on a Ted Talk by Brene Brown. While I am struggling to get through her first book which I am currently reading I think this statement is pretty darn cool and worth repeating. I think she meant it for girls but I reckon it's pretty much applies universally.

Post it's

I went looking for something in the scraproom and ended up sorting out a box of 'stuff' some of which dates back to 2003 in an effort to rid myself of lots of bits of paper I am compiling them all together here. There are quotes, notes, book lists, horoscopes, fortune cookies and all sorts of Gypsy randomness. So over the next wee while I'll share some stuff that means or meant something to me or about me over the past while.

PS. Did you know this is the 1001st post on this blog. Wow.
