I hate that WILL (my darling sweet 4 year old) is learning to write for the very first time in a font that he will only ever encounter in the backward public schools in three states of Australia. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for my kids to learn cursive handwriting. I've read the arguments for 'cursive first' and I disagree with them. I want my preschooler to learn something that he already has a foundation for, something that he sees when he is out and about in the world. I also think cursive handwriting seriously favours girls over boys.
And finally I mean seriously what is with the cursive 'z' is that not the weirdest thing you ever saw? It's like a 3 that went all limp and fell off the line!
