This week on the web....

It's November! Make sure you take sometime to donate to Movember in support of finding a cure and helping those with Prostrate Cancer.
In New Zealand: http://nz.movember.com/mospace/926486
In Australia: http://au.movember.com/team/1571953

Once again it's been a busy week so not much time for web browsing but that said here's what I read....

I thought this post on auspicious symbols on the Happiness Project was interesting.
Some of mine are:
  • the number 8
  • the number 51
  • Stars
  • the letter G
  • The Kingfisher

Cereal offenders: why we may as well eat donuts for breakfast was interesting- you can just look at the pictures and get a good idea if you want.

Why low fat foods are making you fat is a good wrap-up of the current dietary situation in the western world and also has some good links too. Not to mention the invitation to eat bacon and avocados!

Paleo is one of those things that's getting a lot of attention in the Australian media of late. The Dietitians Association of Australia kindly drew lots of attention to it by slamming it with nonsense... they would have been more convincing if they had some reasonable research supported back-up. Here's is one paleo eater's take on it all.

Ten fruits and vegetables you’re storing wrong was a little bit surprising- especially the bananas!

Over at Summer Tomato Goals are for Losers was healthy food for thought.

Engineering and the quest to control nature... my Teacher Tom pick from the last fortnight- this is a perfect example of why children need to be left to play together!

And there's a follow-up: Flooding the Playhouse.

'Hallelujah' post for the week from Andie at Can you Stay for Dinner?  You might like to watch her TedX talk as well.

If you haven't already you should watch Nigel Latta's Sugar documentary!

Nutrition is Stuck in a Paradigm Based on Lies and Bad Science Ancel Keys has a lot to answer for... the weight of many nations, so to speak, on his unethical shoulders. I'd love to know if he'd eat his words now- deep fried in lard and coated in butter!

"This idea that saturated fat caused heart disease was the cornerstone of modern nutrition policy and the reason health authorities turned away from a higher fat diet rich in animal foods, towards a low-fat, high-carb diet with plenty of grains.
Even though saturated fat has now been proven to be harmless, modern nutrition is still stuck in that same paradigm based on cherry picking, lies and just plain bad science.
Nutritionists are still preaching the low-fat, high-carb dogma that has pretty much been proven to be ineffective for the majority of the population and may even be downright dangerous for some people."

I want to go back and think about these posts on the Happiness Blog: Habit Formation, as Distilled in 21 Sentences and this one: My Habits Manifesto. What’s Yours?

Now for the eye candy here's what I  ♥'ed on Etsy this week....

Miniature Halloween Village Skelmingo Lawn Ornaments (set of 3) from Skinny Bone Designs

Ewok Needle felted Miniature from HandmadebyNovember

Les and I have picked a One Little Word for our family in 2015 and I've been looking for a cool way to put it on display this is one of my options: Custom Wood Wall Decal from TheLaserCo.

I'm hoping for a  'This Week on the Web Etsy Christmas' edition- but just in case I run out of time I'm going to share a few faves along the way like these: Christmas decorations handmade from porcelain, gift tags/Angel ornament by SpringwoodPorcelain

That's this week on the web!
