Round-Up ~ August 2011

On our bookshelf this month....

Not much reading going on around here unless you count internet real estate pages. But Merenia has been consuming "Kids Night In", Kieran has been perusing World Cup Rugby literature, and Will has been kicking with his usual; Pamela Allen, Lynley Dodd, and Lucy Cousins.

Loving on the box....

The usual stuff before we left NZ. Since we got to Aus the channels in the apartment have been hard to figure out- we have found ABC4 Kids, Kieran knows al the sports channels- so we got to watch the Tri-Nations final. We also started to watch Underbelly- Razor. I am totally gutted that Aus was screening Greys at least 6 weeks ahead of NZ so it is already finished- will now have to get the DVD when it comes out. Sad but true we've been keeping an eye on NZNTM from here: Go Bianca! (Me and Les) Go Rosanagh! (Kieran)
On the plane: W= Wiggles, K= Rugby, M=Wimpy Kid 2,  Horse of the year, L= Kings speech, Restrepo, G= Black Swan, Kings Speech, and ????

For you...For me?

Tama continued to gather in some welcome to the world loot. Merenia got a couple of "early" birthday presents. I got a sweet pressie from my Starbucks friends and gave them some sweet stuff in return with some essential help from 'super icer' Carolann who was also in line for a pressie or two this month from us and she gave one to me. :-) Will took gingerbread houses to the Kindy teachers. Miss Wendy didn't so much get gifts so much as score some stuff we couldn't take to Aus for her schools Spring Fair and her garden. Kieran got a new Chiefs shirt.

Germs and bugs and botherations....

Tama had surgery for an inguinal hernia and some other issues we need to follow up on in Perth. I had a tooth ache and some serious Hay fever after the move. Kieran had a hacking cough which took forever to clear out at the start of the month. Will threw up on the Wednesday night that we were in the welfare house and subsequently had the next day off Kindy. With the benefit of hindsight I can see he should have had the next day (his last ever) off kindy as well and had a quiet weekend as opposed to running around selling cars, sightseeing and last minute goodbyes. Because we really couldn't take it easy it was all down hill from there. He developed a full blown cold/cough with complimentary piles of snot, earache, and conjunctivitis. Which everyone else in the family except Kieran also got variations of Les and I managed to skip the conjunctivitis luckily... there's not much sadder than a 2 month old with a hacking cough though. And once again we didn't really have many options for slowing down and taking it easy as we were getting bank accs and looking at houses etc... we did take one day while Les was looking at cars to just hang out in the apartment.

Today was good today was fun, tomorrow is another one...

We had a lot of good days and a lot of full on ones as well before we left Auckland. And a lot of very full on ones at the end of the month in Perth mostly spent doing a lot of km's in the rental car looking for a place to call home.
  • Brown's Bay with the Corsans
  • Brown's Bay?Waiake beach with ourselves.
  • Muriwai Beach Sunset
  • Visit with the Carringtons
  • Will's Mini final mat time
  • Les' farewell drinks
  • S & S dining in for Les
  • Making ginger bread houses with Carolann
  • A visit with Jan and Joe
  • Walking the new motorway
  • A couple of visits with Aneil including indian for dinner! :-)
  • A couple of Photo tours around the place to capture images before we left for good- I have some specific plans for these.
  • A trip to Te Aroha to drop off the cat and say good bye to the rellies.
  • Kieran had some fun times with Jake
  • Merenia spent some time with Natalya and Zaklina
  • We went to Ikea
  • The kids had a swim in the hotel pool.
  • We met Mils Muliaina at the airport.
Yum, yum, yum....

Coffee Dare! Starbucks Biscotti, BP Cinnamon danish. Yummy Chicken Risotto, Twisties 50/50's, The last of everything at Morrison Dr, Airplane food including yummy warm scones with jam and cream. Ikea meatballs with Lignonberry jam.

'It was on sale'....

Favourite Jeans and underware before we left NZ, OF DVD's, Mini figures, and the CD set: The Great New Zealeand Song Book. As well as a Sassafras book and some Alphabet Dies waiting when we got to Australia. New clothes and stuff using up vouchers and points that we had.

Bugger!

Practically everyone getting sick when we moved countries. Taking SO long to get checked in we didn't get to check out the Duty free section at the airport. Saying good bye to the cat, and our friends and family and our house. Getting pinged for over weight baggage. Taking so long to find a place and missing out on a couple of good ones. Running out of time to do things and see various people before we left.  Having to sell some of much liked stuff for less than it was worth- like my picnic table. Will finished up Kindy.
Charlene, Brendon, Teagan and Emily losing their precious wee girl/sister Ella Rose on the 6th.

Hooray!

Merenia got awards for Netball. Kieran got a certificate for DTI. Finally doing the moving rather than just talking about it. Selling all our stuff on Trade me including both cars. Will getting Toilet trained. Having a super Paed and getting in fast to do Tama's surgery. Finding a good home for Ruby. Going to Ikea.

Etc...

I got a haircut.
We postponed Merenia's birthday by a month.
Les left the Air Force. Holy cow!
We moved to Perth.
Tama went to the Chiropractor.

You know who's good idea this was? Katie The Scrapbook Lady. Go check out her list of tasks to do at the end of each month as well.
