Tiny Tales from Week 23

Not much to tell this week- lots of bugs floating around and a busy Mama running around after sick boys and a well girl. Tama found a use for my scrapbook table- somewhere to safely throw a ball and have it come back to you.

Our fridge reflected the ill health of it's owners- Powerade for Kieran, Lemonade was Will's special request. And the third trip to the supermarket that day was for Ginger Ale- Les' tipple of choice.

Thank goodness for this! Tama being a firecracker all day while Les, Kieran and Will were all sicker than me- made for a long and tiring day.

Poor Will.

Merenia proved that being anti-social can pay-off she stayed perfectly healthy throughout the whole thing.

Love this boy- his eyes and those lashes!

Some fun up at Lions look out as we let go of the balloons to Saskia.

Cream cheese, Blue Cheese, Cheddar Cheese- Les' 3 cheese and sweet chilli chicken pizza- YUM!

365 Week 23

Tiny Tales from Week 22

Will had swimming at school. They had to come to school in their togs and dressing gowns it was the cutest thing ever- 24 little boys and girls- most of the girls in pink and most of the boys in blue- much more fun than school uniform.

Will's instructor was great- she was very firm and managed to break through Will's confidence issues- he wasn't keen to float on his back- at ALL.

He was very proud that he got his head fully under the water.

But I think the best part of the whole experience as far as he was concerned was catching the bus to and from St Bridgids (the local girls catholic school which has a very nice swimming pool complex!).

Tama thinks having a bo-box like Wills is the best thing since sliced bread.

He also thinks it's a good time letting go of the helium balloons outside!

With swimming exhaustion setting in and the whiff of a good time ahead Will had a sick day on the day that Noah from across the road came to play with us.

We made some cool train tracks!

And a celebratory end of swimming sausage sizzle.

They made their own fruit kebabs.

Kieran got new shoes to match his drink- and realised just how old his old shoes were looking. I love that his school lets the kids wear whatever closed toe shoe they want!

Tama got sick with a vommitty bug.

Will achieved 20 nights of not getting up and coming to visit during the night.

And Tama continued to feel awful.

Round-Up June 2013

On our bookshelf this month....

Tama got some new Little Yellow Digger books and some other cool stuff for his birthday. We had a great time reading when he was sick- probably got through 100 stories!
I have been reading a bunch of Police Procedural Crime fiction by Stuart MacBride after Kieran's English teacher recommended it may not be suitable reading for him. (Kieran has been reading them too and his Basketball book).
Les reads the internet.
Will reads his school readers and Star Wars.

Germs and bugs and botherations....

Tama got sick with a tummy bug which he passed on to Me, Will, Kieran and Les. The boys and I all have ongoing issues with colds, coughs and such. Will was sick on and off through the month- totally ready for the 2 week holidays in July!

Today was good today was fun, tomorrow is another one...

School swimming. Noah visits for the day. Tama's Birthday. Saskia's Birthday lunch. Merenia's Paces Presentation morning. Tama lunched with Les while I did some shopping. Watching tree trimming down the road. A Mental health day for Will with a trip to Perth Zoo. Merenia's school sports lightning Carnival they won 3/4 games of soccer! Watching Will give his all in Cross Country and not caring that he came last. Playing in the water they were draining off the construction site as they put the drains in.

Yum, yum, yum....

Zumbo's Mirror mud cake. Saskia's Birthday Brunch- Hollandaise sauce yum!! Les' blue cheese Pizza. Les' Salt and Pepper Fish. Macca's Wedges. Tama's cake especially the Philadelphia Lemon Cream cheese icing.

'It was on sale'....

Project Life finally hit the stores- there were a few other scrappy purchases as well. Photobooks I did a bunch for us and the kids while there was a special on. Les got new shoes.

Bugger!

Illness- especially all the boys getting sick just as Tama got better and was all full of beans. My car needed a new radiator and was out for a week- an expensive week! Merenia's Soccer Team and Kieran's Hockey team are on a losing streak- and it's taking it's toll mentally on both teams.

Sorting through my photos from the last few years- with starting digital pages as well as paper- it has messed things up- plus a big break from printing and scrapping around the move and while Tama was little- everything is in dis-array and will take a bit to get back in order- this takes time from the actual scrapping of the photos- yuck!

Danny once again bailed on coming to stay with us.

Hooray!

Getting Project Life finally! Big long phone call with Jim.
Will's class enjoyed having a dozen eggs in their class and hatching out 10 little chicken chicks something they enjoyed over a couple of weeks. Tama got pretty excited the day 3 Rubbish trucks parked outside our house. 
Awesome school reports all around. Kieran got great recommendations for his year 11 courses.

Etc...

Lots of sport- practice and games- it takes over the winter weeks and weekends. Saskia's Birthday wasn't really up to it's usual standard- we need to plan better and find few 'us' places in Perth. Kieran announced his intention to try and go to the Australian Defence Force Academy and do an engineering degree through them.

Story Chapter 26- The setting

The setting of my story is one of the best things- most successful parts of my story.

The main setting of my life is my home. I have it pretty much exactly how I want it. I make a few tweaks from time to time- and I could mop more but hey.

I love having a space that is big enough to do what we want to do. I love having spaces for everyone's needs. The reading corner is a particularly favourite area. As is my craft room- having a dedicated space to create in is completely awesome.

I spend probably 85% of my time at home especially over the summer months- when I'm not taxiing the kids to winter sports games and practices. My favourite time of day is the window between when Tama as gone off to sleep and when I gently coax him out of bed to pick up the kids. It's quiet and there are no interruptions. The worst time of  day is once we get home with the kids and everyone wants a piece of me and all have at least 10 inane pieces of information that they MUST share from their day/their facebook/ their weird brain.

I love the way the sun streams into our main room. I love the space in the linen cupboard. The storage in the garage. And the fact we don't have to share a bathroom with the kids.

I would change only two things about this house: The crappy cheap faux wood floor and the backyard- which needs: space, a pool, a lawn overhaul and a lot more vegetation especially trees.

My home is set in a suburb that I don't particularly love but it does have it's assets: it's close to Merenia's school and the shopping centre- and it's really not too far to a whole bunch of other places. We also have the pond, playground and construction site all fairly close.

My suburb is set in a city that I am growing to love. I love its weather with all it's extremes and how it reminds me just how amazing the world we live in is. I love what I have seen of the wild life, communities, and destinations. I love that we have so much left to explore.

At the end of the year we are looking at moving a couple of suburbs away. I am scared to leave our amazing home but will be delighted to join an amazing community. I'm excited to have the kids living in the community that their school friends do. I think we will have a home that has a much better outdoor environment for our outside dwelling boys.

It will be another chapter in our story.

Tama Turns 2

We ended up celebrating Tama's Birthday on the 23rd- he didn't know- but it was just easier to do it on a Sunday rather than a Monday that was looking like it was going to be quite full.

I love that he really takes the time to look at every present- including flicking through the books and checking out the cards.

It was very much a construction machinery themed birthday- with a few other bits thrown in for variety (and his book loving Mama).

He worked his way through the toys trying almost everything before breakfast.

He was kind and shared his balloons.

With Saskia too!

He was super happy and just totally into everything.

Favourite present by a country mile.

When asked what he wanted for his birthday dinner Tama said "Meat" We had a roast. And he wanted his special drink to be "Green" and so that's what we did.

Our neighbours joined us for singing and cake.

 

It was a pretty cool day for a pretty cook kid.
