Daniella Love

I have friend called Daniella. She's actually an ex-pupil of mine. And she used to come to my place after school a couple of times a week while her parents were working. She's Elliots big sister. In order to make sure that we catch-up I take her our for Starbucks each holidays. We missed the April ones because she was super sick and the July holiday one was delayed due to busy-ness on my part. So we finally got together a couple of weeks back.

Just for a change we went to Starbucks in Browns Bay. We people watched. And we learned that the cupcake lady says the (almost exact) same thing to practically all of her customers. She comes across as quite sincere until you listen to her do it over and over again. Her cupcakes are pretty, but expensive. And she has been known to turn mean. But I digress. We enjoyed the people watching and we checked out the puppies in the petshop (I think) and walked along the street by the beach.

Then we went to spotlight and looked at scrapbooking stuff (for me) and fabric (for both of us) and patterns (for fun). Do I know anyone who is willing to sew me some summer dresses for cheap? Please.

Anyway my point is it'd been six months since I saw her and Yaya as we call her in our house has grown-up into this super awesome young lady. She very definitely is still a teenager. But you can see the adult she will be shining out and it's so cool. I felt proud (which is weird because it's not like I had anything to do with it!) And she rocks at funny.... not intentionally clown style but just dead pans some really funny stuff about her life! Very cool.
And a shameless plug for any of my local readers she sells Avon- so if you use any of their stuff (love their lipbalm) let me know and I'll hook you up.

Ordinary Sparkling Moments #1

I though I'd gather some cool ideas in the form of Ordinary Sparkling Moments. I'm classifying these as commonplace things that just feel so darn good and have you love your life and appreciate the little things just that little bit more... for example.
  • Clean body on clean cotton sheets.
  • Lemonade with fresh pineapple or Strawberry pieces.
  • A warm wheat bag in your bed.
  • A fire on a winters day.
  • The smell of meat and garlic roasting.
  • Changing out your winter shoes for Sandals.
  • Grass on your feet.
  • Getting called Mum by someone who uses his words sparingly.
Feel free to let me know yours and I'll compile them in a post sometime soon.

Op Shop love

I try and drop in on my local Salvation Army Shop each week.... it's not like my old student days where things cost 50 cents and $1 Auckland Op shops are serious business and have been ever since I moved here 13 odd years ago. And you don't seem to score the cool stuff like I did back then either... but I must say I love my new table cloth.....

Those colours rock and they go great with our crappy $10 Warehouse chairs....

And on a different occasion we scored this for $8!!!
We are going to add a board on the other side as well and paint it up with Blackboard paint.

Change 9.17.8.09

I don't remember the last time I posted Change Project photos. They have made HUGE progress especially up at Westgate. It makes it hard to believe it won't be done till 2012.

If you've seen these posts since the start then you'll know what I mean when I say this is the drive way to the house..... (if not then you can click on the Change Label at the bottom of this post and see what it's all about- you may have to go to my other blog (link in the sidebar) to get the full story).

This is one of the few things that remains from the old place....

Me and my Boy

Damn it he's sweet.

Hair Today, Gone Today

I'm not a hairdresser kind of girl. I think I've been maybe 20 times in my life. The first time I was about 25. But I go through phases. All of the sudden I will go.... "nah, sick of this it's too long, it's driving me nuts!" and then provided I have the cash I'll get it all cut off that day, the sooner the better-

And I go extreme, really short (for me) considering I have been a down to my bum sort of girl in the past.

And then I think it looks awful for a week or so while I get used to it and I swear that I'll never cut it again and just go back to having totally long hair.

And then I get used to it and learn how to tame it. But still resolve not to cut it.
Until one day when I'll just go... "nah, sick of this it's too long, it's driving me nuts!" and so on....

Anticipation

I love my garden, sparse though it is. I love Spring. I love Summer. And I LOVE flowers.
Can't wait.

Box Love

You remember that almost empty plastic box that Will was in?

Look what it morphed into!
We used to have a hodge podge of cardboard boxes some as old as Merenia in our attic space and the kids clothes had been tossed up there willy nilly as they grew out of them. Now after a hundred dollar investment at The Warehouse and a couple of days work I have this.. it's a beautiful thing to behold! Those top two boxes have gone off to stay at Miss Wendy's and are awaiting the arrival of the littlest 'bellbrightseahouse' in November. It's baby city in our life at the moment we are excitedly anticipating two in November to friends and Family and three in February to the kids school friends and Miss Lily is going to be a big sister as well! Pretty cool! Like my organised, labeled boxes in my catalogued attic space so I remember what the heck I have and can find it easy- amen to that.

Laundry Love

There was one day of the Rugby Season I was REALLY looking forward to.... the day it was our turn to wash the Match Jerseys....awesome weather, co-ordinating pegs, just the right amount of line space, 100 odd photos later.... the day didn't disappoint!

I have to admit I even contemplated not hanging the rest of the washing so I could take photos at different times of the day so I could catch the best sun!

Box of Goodness

Just goes to show... those boxes, really are priceless!

Who wouldn't want a delivery like that to their place huh?

Breakfast with Daddy

This is what weekends look like at our hour 50% of the time now that sport has finished.

He kind of looks like Lord and Master huh?

He is. And we his humble servants.

Big time suckers for His Royal Cuteness.

He looks pretty laid back doesn't he?
In case you were wondering, the other 50% of the time HER Royal Cuteness convinces her Dad to cook eggs for breakfast, by batting her eyelids with those super long Stockley Eyelashes. Or even better she cons him into letting her cook the eggs while he supervises. :-)

Score One for Me :-)

Every so often I do a search on trade me and etsy for my name... most of the things are lame 'Gypsy style' dresses (must have been very bad taste Gypsies!!!). Or a book which people are selling a lot of copies of.... but the other day I came across this sweet little kit.

I don't intend using them they'll just go in my stash and when I have my ultimate Scrapbooking room they'll have a place in amongst my G collection and other cool found and collected items.
