The Semi

I never did tell you about the night of the Super 14 semi final when the steamin' hot Chiefs lined up against the in-for-hell-Hurricanes.

We assembled with some friends (or at least they used to be friends- sorry Aneil I should have photoshopped that one!) At Dave L's place... it was a nice relaxed evening.... unless.... you were a baby wrangler in a baby free house (one that has a stereo, house plants and other totally tempting treasures all at ground level). It also wasn't so relaxing if you were a DIE HARD Chiefs fan...

In our family we have a tradition carried on from our 2 Squadron days called 'The BONE'.

Usually, The bone consists of wiggling your pointer finger at the opposition when they are undertaking such tasks as kicking a conversion or penalty in an effort to cast a hex on them and cause them to miss their shot.

Obviously if one finger is bad... then two fingers and toes as well work even better especially when half the room is boning your bone in an effort to reverse the effect.

Notice the baby in these photos seeing his opportunity all adults distracted he went in for the kill!

And managed to slay a whole fistful of Hummus!

As the mist settled in on MooLoo land....

...the Chiefs won the game and the boy was relieved, the baby was way past his bedtime so we headed home tired but happy!

I Miss Writing

I don't actually consider myself a writer as such. Nor do I really see myself as an 'artist' but I tell you right now I am seriously craving some time and space to do both writing and art right now. I've got a few big blog posts to write and a letter to my husband as well as a few emails to various friends and family. To do this requires clarity of mind and the opportunity to concentrate- therefore it can't be done;

• in the afternoon/evening when all and sundry are hanging around or
  
• at night when I am dog tired,
  
• can't be done one handed with a sweet little bundle sleeping in my lap as happens each day
• and in that 50 minutes max that I get of sweet sweet freedom on the days that Will sleeps in is cot- there is a huge list of stuff that takes a higher priority than writing and creating.

This is an issue. Because I think that I may just be about to go CRAZY! :-)

One of my dreams is in serious danger of not coming true. CK Media (who make Creating Keepsakes Magazine) are in the crap big time and so it looks like they aren't going to do Creating Keepsakes University any more after the end of this year. So I tell you I better win Lotto really soon or it ain't never going to happen!

Look what someone made me! Now I just need to figure out how to get me some!

I love Etsy but I avoid it like the plague because it's the worlds second biggest internet time sink (Flikr is the first). Which is why I like Miss PaperCakes- she finds cool stuff on Etsy and Flickr- and when it comes to cool stuff she's a girl after my own heart!

When Will and I were sick last month I spent our days on the couch reading this blog in it's entirity. The woman who wrote it spent a year doing everything that Oprah said on her show that *we* (the watching public) must do. Right down to buying white jeans.

That's it from me.... I'm sure there's other stuff that I wanted to share but as I write Outrageous Fortune is on so I gotta run...

Go, go, go...

Kids finally made it to bed at 11pm last night. By the sounds of it they had a good time but the schools effort wasn't the resounding success that it has been in the past and I can't say that I am really surprised (I haven't even seen it). The point is though that they had a good time and they did... and so did we.....


Les had to go do a pick up from Matt at RC Bandit and so I went along for the ride (Scrapbook Studio) is just around the corner. We grabbed lunch and went into town and met up with the kids. We took them to Starbucks Queen Street (great friendly staff in there!!) for drinks and then dropped them back to the Aotea centre.


Rippa Rugby today for Les, Kieran, Will, and I (might just have to shoot up to the scrapbook store at Whangaparaoa). Merenia has a post Stage Challenge day off and is going to Alyssa's- all the way til St Johns time, sweet! Kieran was trying to dodge Rugby practice as he went to bed last night... we will see. Les has something special to do, so it's going to be a busy day/evening.

Will and I looking forward to Wednesday when we can just stay home and relax.

Kieran and Merenia are preforming tonight at the Aotea center as part of the J Rock Stage challenge. The school's theme is 'You are what you eat' and they are doing a take on The very Hungry Caterpillar. Mira's is an Apple and Kieran is a Licorice Allsort- thay have that good food/bad food thing going on!

Surprise Visitors

We were super lucky recently as we got to catch up with Cameron and Macchi who were up here on a visit!

The boys were really good together! They played alongside each other (like toddlers do) quite nicely! While Macchi and I caught up on the boy raising adventure that is our lives!

Three Unphotos and a Funny Story

Unphoto No. 1; this is the photo I didn't take when I was driving down the main road toward the shopping centre. There was a car on a side road on my left waiting to turn onto the road on which I was travelling. As I approached the car a hand swung down into view and an arm hanging out of the bottom of the cars boot. I stared in shock and creeping horror and then relief as the road worker, all but his arm obscured by the cars rear tyre, finished inspecting the road and stood-up.

Unphoto No. 2; Les came home at lunch on Friday. I had just done the fortnights supermarket shopping and needed to put it away and also get two loads of washing on the line whilst simultaneously corralling, feeding and putting to bed the baby whom I did not want on the wet grass. So Les took the baby and the shopping leaving me outside under tg fhe washing line. Whilst the day was crisp the sun beat down warm on me and a thermal moved directly over our house lazily circling and enjoying the updraft of warm air was a Harrier Hawk about 50 metres or so above. A called Hawk loving dad and bird loving son out to check it out. As I did another Hawk joined the fun. We watched the birds do a circling dance above the neighbours house. Eventually one flew off leaving the other circling some more. And then we saw it. It ejected fast from it's body and then disapated seeming to vapourise as gravity pulled it to earth. A hawk taking a dump- now that's not something you see every day.

Unphoto No 3. We did a quick run down to the Balmoral Warehouse yesterday (we're looking for some particular chairs). As we were driving back home along St Lukes Rd We passed a store that had a sandwhich board outside with two sets of orange and yellow balloons attached to them. Just as our car approached one set of four balloons detached and flew into our path bounced off the front of the car and over the top. Will and Merenia both missed it which is a pity because it was a pretty cool moment.

Finally the funny story; Kieran and I went out recently to look for Lemony Snicket and other books. We went to Wheelers book store in Triton Drive, Albany. As we were driving back down Triton Dr Kieran was checking out his surroundings and announced; "Barbarella's" and then "Sexyland" as the large sign on the side of the building proclaims. I laughed and said, "Do you think you wanna check out Sexyland?" to which he replied; "No, but I'd like to go to Funky Town!"

The little dude that made messes in our pot cupboard and the pantry and then the laundry cupboard (where he had a thing for snail bait???). He had a bit a kink in his tail but was otherwise unharmed. I went and set him free in the neighbours old compost heap.

Miss Lily, again!

It seems like forever ago now but it was only the end of last month when we went up to Helensville to catch up with Miss Lily and Miss Jennie!

We had a really lovely time. It's nice to compare notes on baby raising and just be reminded that where you are at and what's going on is normal.

Will and Lily played nicely together.

And also got into mischief together as well.

Will admired Miss Lily's cooking utensils- something of a passion for him.
Then he tried to get Miss Lily to hand them over by lavishing her with hugs...

and more hugs....

And some kisses as well!

But all Miss Lily was willing to give Will was a kiss...

Will did a great job of showing Jennie the next steps in baby proofing her house. And showed Lily all the potential trouble she can get into. And we also taught Miss Lily a new bad habit. Will stole her drink bottle and so I told her to give him the bash... so she did! She just hit him softly a couple of times... Jennie was shocked.. I thought it was funny.
It was a lovely rainy day indoors with friends!

Kevin's art.... We went to Starbucks in Brown's Bay on Saskia's brithday. They have a cool barista called Kevin who does VERY cool chalkboard art. (It's a pity that the other Browns Bay Barista's aren't as cool and as nice as Kevin and my local crew).

When Sparks Flew

Recently we had a visit from a Genesis Energy Rep to replace our Power Meter. He was actually a Power Board worker contracted to do the job- and apparently gets paid less that the actual Genesis guys do. But they need him because the Genesis sissy's can't do houses like ours because they have to be done LIVE! As in you can't actually cut the power to our house from the street like you can other houses. Which is why when we were watching him do the job there were literally sparks flying and tools being fast thrown away and power guy jumping as he accidentally touched something live onto something metal!!!

We only just recently changed to Genesis after a quick trip to the Consumer Website informed us that we were with the second most expensive power company in our area... then Genesis promptly put their prices up and I feel like we are paying more than we did before!!

Hmmmm... maybe I should go back to consumer and see if we need to change again!

I am almost finished Will's ABC book but am stuck on a few letters so rather than read the dictionary I thought I might ask the audience... I need things that Will can relate to for;
