Tiny Tales from week 12

The winter sports season started with Kieran being the first to start back with practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Merenia had soccer practice on Wednesday and Friday and Netball practice on Thursdays. Will has Hockey on Saturday mornings once the season starts and Merenia has Netball games that morning too. Kieran's games are Sunday morning as are Merenia's soccer games. Phew.

Then they changed soccer practice to Tuesdays and Thursdays which left me with the challenge of getting two people to different places at the same time. And one person to two practices at the same time. Now Kieran gets dropped to Hockey 15 minutes early and picked up 15 minutes late. And poor Merenia practices from 4:30 till 7pm with an 8 minute break in between as we drive from the courts to the fields.... roll on summer!

Hockey Pre-season Carnival... Tama is a gun with a Hockey stick... can dribble a soccer ball and ain't half bad at whacking a golf ball... I don't want to stereotype but he might be the sporty one.

Lego is big with Will right now, along with Star Wars, guns and the word Poo. As in:

"Well you're a poo-poo face" (giggle)

"Well you're eating poo" (LOL)

"Tama is Poo" (Hysterics)

We headed down to Activate again to celebrate Declan turning five!

Tiny Tales from week 11

Will was very happy to receive a Merit Certificate from the principal at assembly "for writing and reading his own sentence in Pre-primary".

Tama was just very happy, he usually is.

Lots more strength training and acrobatics... the monkey bars were probably one of the best purchases we made at Christmas!

A visit from Noah and Mychael. Mychael set up this very cool farm with the duplo for the boys to play with.

Tama has a "Beebutton" fetish- luckily it's just for his own belly button. :-)

The capsicum plants are still trying hard... but these guys are smaller than golf balls.

 

Darth Vader (Aka Dar-day) practice. Tama thinks Darth Vader is "mean". Les is teaching him that he is just misunderstood. Misunderstood is a tough word for a not quite 2 year old so now the conversation goes like this.

Tama: Dar-day mean.

Les: No he's not.

Tama: Dar-day schtood.

Les: That's right misunderstood.

Kieran got his hair cut.

Then he got it cut again the very next day.

And in our effort to find someone that would do it the way he wanted we now have to drive 15 minutes more than before to get it done.

Les went and took some cool photos at the Aerotow event.

I sewed a circus tent in order to assist Merenia plans for an over the top hat for the school parade. At least she gave up on the idea that had live fish... that was never going to end well.

Plane spotters. You can take the kids out of the Air Force but you can't take the Air Force out of the kids.

Two wedge tail eagles but on a spectacular display of synchronised flying right over our back yard!

Story Chapter 14 - Vulnerable?

 

I'm not sure I know what I cannot do. If I need to do something I just do it. I've never been one to be constrained by rules or expectations or limitations. Just because I've never done something before doesn't mean I can't do it- just that I'm yet to teach myself how.

Generally in my life if there's something I can't do it's because I don't want to- like quitting Iced Coffee. :-) 

The quote above while obviously from Eleanor Roosevelt is highlighted by Brene Brown in her most recent book Daring Greatly. Which I absolutely love and would buy for all my friends if I had the cash and am making Les read (he's a slow reader apparently) and will strongly encourage Kieran and Merenia to read. The book is about having the courage to be vulnerable- which is an imperative for being and living a great story.

Maybe that's the thing I can't do, be vulnerable. I'll have to think on that. I'll get back to you, in the meantime read the book and then we can talk.
